Patricia Rose Langille
Aug 23, 1928 – January 3, 2021.
The family are saddened to announce the death of Patricia (Pat) Langille. She passed peacefully at Loch Lomond Village on January 3, 2021 after a long period of failing health.
Pat was born in Saint John to parents Orman and Catherine (Whalen) Quinlan on August 23, 1928. She was raised during the Depression on the family farm at Willow Grove with her sisters Mary and Dody and her brothers, Paul and Benny. She learned to work hard and take responsibility at a young age, values she carried throughout her life. She attended the one room school at Taylor Lake where she completed grades 1 to 8, the extent of public education at that time. She completed grades 9 and 10 by correspondence and went to work in Saint John at the age of 15. Pat worked at Eastern Textiles and lived in Saint John for several years prior to her marriage. She shared accommodations with other young women including her sister Mary and some of her cousins. They enjoyed the social activities the city had to offer and she made many lifelong friends and acquaintances.
She married Cyril, her husband of 68 years, in 1951. They built a home in Loch Lomond where they raised their three children. Pat worked for Cara operations at the Saint John airport from 1965 to 1978. She enjoyed meeting the travelers, working with the other airport employees and learning the customer service business. In 1978 Pat and Cyril moved to Dresden Ave. and Pat began a new job at McAllister Place where she remained until her retirement in 1990.
After retirement, Pat and Cyril built a cottage at Grand Lake where the family gathered, they spent many winters in Florida where they had a home and eventually kept a trailer at Century Farms in St. Martins. They renewed old friendships and made new friends wherever they went.
Pat and Cyril enjoyed dancing and social activities throughout their lives and were long time members of square dance clubs in Grand Bay and Hampton. They both loved country music and attended live music events regularly. They were dedicated parishioners at St. Joseph’s and later St. Anne’s as well as St. William’s during the summers.
Pat loved to cook and try new recipes, especially baking sweet treats for all to enjoy. She was famous for her date squares and fruitcake. Pat also loved flowers, she kept beautiful gardens at her homes and spent many summer afternoons tending the plants.
Cyril passed away in 2020. She leaves her three children; Cathy Watson (Brian), Michael (Cathie) and Dan (Ann Marie) Langille, four grandsons; Kyle Watson, Tyler, Brendan and James Langille; 10 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and lots of friends.
Pat is also survived by her sister Doreen Wright (Dan), sister in- law Laverne Thomas (Malcolm) and brother in- law Ralph Boyle (Margie). She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Mary Boyle, brothers Paul and Benny Quinlan, sisters in law Ruth and Carol Quinlan and in laws Lawson and Doris Langille.
Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home. Due to the pandemic, Funeral services will be held at a later date. Details will be posted when arrangements have been finalized. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation or any charity of the donor’s choice.
