Mom was 91 when she finally got her wish; she wanted to spend her summer at Clearwater Lake, and then join Dad in September. She was full of happiness, love and laughter and still had that sparkle in her eyes until the very end! With broken hearts, she leaves behind her daughters Brenda (Dennis) Boiteau, Patty Moreton, and sons John (Marian) and Dick, her 7 grandchildren, Mark ( Amber), Dereck, Matt, Ryan (Jolynn), Kelsey (Rory), Dayton, and Logan, and 7 great grandchildren, Solaye, Chase, Ailey, Emlynn, Gracie May, Owen and Winston. We all miss her deeply. Mom is survived by her sister, Jordie Allard and was predeceased by her husband “Bud” in 2008 and brother Dr. Jim Russell.
Pat was born in Winnipeg on January 29, 1930 to Dixie and Alex Russell. She got her Home Economics Degree from U of M, returned to The Pas, and married Bud Moreton. They started many businesses, The Dial Electric being the most remembered.
Mom had many talents. She was an extremely accomplished seamstress, making wedding gowns in the1950’s and selling them for $25.00. She was an artist, painting in both oils and watercolors, an avid gardener, bridge and canasta player, golfer, (achieving that ever elusive hole in one) and so much more. Mom loved to entertain, and was a very social person, always jumping in to help organize many events at The Trappers Festival, The Black and White Ball, and the towns yearly Christmas party. Friends always admired the graceful way Mom and Dad would dance at these events. Mom always looked like she just stepped out of a fashion magazine. She possessed a quality not many people have…the ability to make you feel special. Mom was very proud of her children and grandchildren and all they accomplished.
The cabin at Clearwater Lake was her “happy place” where each grandchild and great grandchild was baked their own special dessert. One of Moms fondest memories was spreading daisy seeds on the lake road with her dad and her 2 young daughters and watching them grow.
As you drive along the roads, and notice the daisies, remember our beloved mom, friend, nana, and “nana at the lake.”
