1932-2021
Donald Lorne Osborne of Dauphin, Manitoba and Edmonton, Alberta passed away peacefully on April 3, 2021 at Sherwood Care in Sherwood Park at 88 years of age.
Donald was married to Margaret Sumpter of Dauphin, Manitoba, moved to Edmonton, Alberta and had two children: Karen and Greg. In 1984 he married Rita DeLongchamp-Osborne of Sudbury, Ontario.
He is survived by his wife Rita; his children: Greg (Brenda Tremblay) and Karen (Gary Cook); his grand-children: Sheena, Jennifer, Lauren, Kelsey, Jamie, Greg; his 11 great-grand-children; his sister Thelma Drebnisky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father Ernest Osborne; his mother Lillian (nee Aitken) and his sisters: Sandra Hallaberda (Matt) and Jean Richardson (Jim).
Donald loved working on his lawn and garden, entertaining children and was a great fan of the Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Eskimos. He loved talking about the major city parks in Edmonton which he proudly worked on as a landscape foreman. He especially loved dancing and travelling with his wife Rita who he met at Muttart Conservatory and with whom he recently celebrated 37 years of marriage.
Donations to the Alberta and North-West Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank the staff at Villa Caritas Hospital and the residents and staff of Sherwood Care for their great care, friendship and kindness. Thank you also to Serenity Funeral Service.
A Celebration of Life will be held after Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. Don will be laid to rest at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Edmonton.
