Obituary
Nora Maureen Onischuk passed away at the Portage & District General Hospital on November 22, 2021.
Predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mabel Onischuk, her sisters Barb Hildebrand and Ardeth Poschenrieder and brother Ray Bechdoldt. She leaves behind sister in law Eve Bechdoldt, many nieces and nephews, good friends – the ‘Debbies’, and numerous ACL staff.
Nora was born on July 3, 1956. When her parents were no longer able to care for her, she resided in caring foster homes in Portage la Prairie. Eventually, she moved to an Association for Community Living residence in Portage and enjoyed the fabulous house staff and roommates. She attended Portage ARC Industries all her working life and looked forward to going every day to meet and work with her friends and staff.
Nora had a quick wit and would often speak her mind if need be! She loved to watch TV, her favourite show being Three’s Company. Nora enjoyed listening to country music especially Doc Walker and she loved to sleep in!
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all the caregivers at the ACL Portage homes, especially St. George home staff, Jeanette and Katie, for all their loving care and kindness bestowed upon Nora over many years. Sincere gratitude is also extended to everyone at Portage ARC Industries and her previous foster homes. As well, a huge thank you to the caring staff at Portage Hospital over the last few months.
A private service will be held.
