After a lengthy battle with dementia Nick passed peacefully nestled between his love, Val, and daughter Mallory, on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Pleasantview Towers in St. John’s, NL.
A native of Merasheen Island he moved to Trepassey with his family in 1967 where he finished high school and worked on the local fish plant until the fishery collapse in 1991 at which time he went to work with Maersk offshore. He dearly loved Trepassey but was always so proud to ‘come from Merasheen’ and went back there many times over the years.
He is predeceased by his parents John and Stella Wilson and his brother Leo; as well as his parents-in-law Jerry and Magdalen Tobin.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife Valerie (nee Tobin), his pride and joy, Mallory and her boyfriend Drew Morgan; his brothers Willie (Barb), Ron (Geraldine), Andy (Phyllis), Johnny (Denise), George (Lana), Philip (Janet), Kennedy/Sam (Cathy Ann), Paul (Scelina), Rick (Sherry), Pat (Audrey); and his sisters Stella, Bertha Butler (Don deceased), Jose Gillis (our guiding light and pillar of love and dedication) (Scott), Catherine Pennell (Melvin); his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Geraldine Picco (Bernard deceased), Linda Hayward (Gerald deceased), Yvonne Cheater (Valerie’s support person) (Colin), Sharon, Ray Tobin (Doreen), Rhoda Tobin (Ken), Barry Tobin (Cheryl), Paula Tobin, Jerry Tobin (Arlene), Goldie Perry (Simon), Connie Tobin (Andre); and a very long list of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews of whom he was so fond.
Thank you to the staff at Pleasantview Towers 4 South East and especially 1 South West for your professional and dedicated care and unwavering support in his final years.
In accordance with Covid restrictions a small service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021. We would like to invite our friends and family to help us take Nick to his final resting place at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, with a funeral procession leaving the Holy Redeemer Church parking lot at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
