NEUFELD Agnes Helen June 21 1932 — October 4 2021

NEUFELD, Agnes Helen
June 21, 1932 — October 4, 2021
With family by her side, Agnes Neufeld passed away peacefully, in her sleep, at home on October 4, 2021.
Agnes was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan and raised in a loving home in Herbert, Saskatchewan, by her parents Henry and Helen Friesen and brother Verne. In 1939, the family moved to Coaldale, AB, then to Kelowna, BC in 1945. A young man named Carl caught her eye at church and on April 6, 1951 they married, enjoying 70 years together. She became an amazing mother, then grandmother, and later still great-grandmother “Oma”. Agnes was very kind and caring, she loved being around her family. She was very gracious and gave so much of herself so others would feel comfortable, welcomed, and of course well–fed! We will never forget her beautiful smile, her laughter, and wonderful sense of humour.
Agnes was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking, especially when she was preparing for Christmas and countless family gatherings. She worked hard all her life, raising four children while working at the family businesses, Kelowna Beverages, then later at Lyman Lures Mfg. When she could get away she loved travelling to see family. She was very active and enjoyed golfing, skiing, bowling, hiking (medalling at the Grouse Grind at age 78). After retirement, an adventurous spirit led Agnes and Carl to drive to La Ventana, Baja, Mexico, spending 15 winters there, sailing and camping on the beach.
Left to share Agnes’ memories: her husband Carl; three children Ron (Kathaleen), Teresa, and Laura; four grandchildren Jessica (Jeremy) Wheeler, Greg Wallman, Michael (Cindy) Neufeld, and Jordan (April) Neufeld; four great-grandchildren Myra and Emmett Wheeler, and Vanessa and Avery Neufeld; her sisters Phyllis, Florence, Bernice, and Marie; brothers Robert and Art; daughter-in-law Kathy (Peter); and a large extended family. She goes to join those who have gone before her: birth-mother Edith Messear; parents, Henry and Helen Friesen; brother Verne Friesen; her sister Dorothy; and sadly, her beloved son Glenn (d. 2010).
We will always cherish the times we had and the loving and stable home she provided.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Canada.
