Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, NB ~ At the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the age of 93, passed away peacefully Néri Collette.
Born in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, NB, he was the son of the late Fabien Collette and the late Emma Collette (born LeBlanc).
Néri was the last survivor of his family.
Néri was a man who worked actively in his community and was very involved in his parish in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent. He served on the parish Council but he also liked to help anyone in need. He loved the woods and the farm. He had a career as a Forest Ranger with the Department of Natural Resources. He loved dancing, music and playing cards (200) where he made many good friends.
Néri was a Knight of Columbus 4th degree, as well as a Grand Knight of the Council of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent.
Néri will be greatly missed by his wife of 70 years of marriage, Aldéa Collette of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent; two sons: Edouard Collette (Gisèle) of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent and Guy Collette (Gisèle) of Shediac; three daughters: Gisèle Richard (Gérard) of Dieppe, Denise Collette (Jean) of Cocagne and Phyllis Collette (Donald) of Moncton; six grandchildren: Yves, Julien, Luc, Daniel, Mathieu and Émilie; five great-grandchildren: Jacob, Noah, Zachary, Kaleb and Sofia; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Néri now rests with six sisters: Elizabeth, Joséphine, Marie, Marguerite, Suzanne and Dorilla; with five brothers: Arcade, Elzé, Thaddée, Napoléon and Maxime; as well as with two brothers who died in infancy: Eloi and Néri.
Visitation will be held at Passage Funeral Chapel in Shediac Bridge on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at the Saint-Jean-Baptiste RC Church in Bouctouche at 11:00 a.m.
A donation can be made for the Parish of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent or for a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank from the bottom of their hearts the Résidence Au Bénaise, NB’s Extra-Mural Program (Sainte-Anne-de-Kent) and Dre. Mélanie Allain for all the support and good care given to Néri and his family during the most difficult times.
