Nancy Lynn Melvin
1959-2021
Nancy Lynn Melvin (Gillis), wife of Ron Melvin of Napan, NB, passed away suddenly, but very peacefully at her home in Napan on October 8, 2021, at the age of 62.
Born in Newcastle, NB, on September 28, 1959, she was the daughter of Roy and Anita (Parks) Gillis.
Nancy worked 39 years as an Insurance Broker with Tozer Insurance, where she became known as a trusted source of insurance knowledge. Nancy grew up on the family farm in Napan, and her love of family and sense of community kept her in Napan. Nancy embodied a spirit of community and fellowship. She absolutely loved her community and the people in it, and gladly contributed when and wherever there was need. She faithfully attended the Carmel United Church in Napan where she was a member, and was also an Elder and sat on the Board of Stewards. She was also a Treasurer for the Napan Hall Board Committee, and a member of numerous other boards and committees within her community. She loved her Thursday card games and her BINGO. She especially enjoyed her Friday lunch dates with the girls.
Nancy’s family was her everything. She will be sadly missed by her parents, Roy and Anita; husband, Ron of 43 years; son, Danny (Amanda) of Napan; and daughter, Joan (David) of Miramichi; four sisters: Darlene (Darrell) of Napan Bay, Penny (Rejean) of Pointe-Sapin, Patty (Tim) of Napan, Sandra (Jim) of Lincoln, NB; three brothers: John (Brenda) of Napan, Donnie of Napan, and Kirk (Tanya) of Napan; and three special granddaughters whom she adored and would do anything for: Alexis, Lauren, and Lydia. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, as well as great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Nancy could always be called upon to recall the birthdays of each of her numerous loved ones!
Visitation and funeral will occur and will be announced at a later date. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy and in memory of Nancy’s support for all things local, donations to a local charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
