Myriam Kovacs
April 23, 1934 – July 9, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Myriam Agnes Kovacs announce her passing after a brief illness, on Friday, July 9, 2021, at the age of 87 years. Myriam will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Kalman and her children, Andrew (Maureen) and Peter (Tram). Myriam will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Tristan, Lauryn, Kylie and Asia, and by her siblings, Mares and Werner, as well as by their family in Switzerland (Käthi, Hanspeter, Myrtha, Bea, Werner Jr., Philipp, Adrian), and by Kalman’s family (Andras).
She was predeceased by her parents: Werner Karl Hertli and Maria-Theresia Hertli-Ulmann.
Myriam was born on April 23, 1934 in Hadlikon-Hinwil, Switzerland. At the age of 26, she moved to Toronto, Ontario where she met her husband Kalman, while dancing at the El Mocambo Club. It was love at first sight under the “Neon Palm”. Above all else, her passion was her family, near and far. She took great interest in everyone’s lives. She was a kind, elegant and caring woman who put everyone’s needs above her own. However, she still found time to enjoy travelling over land and sea, music, painting, cooking and a few good books. She also cherished the many friendships she had established in Switzerland, Georgetown/Terra Cotta, Wasaga Beach and Florida.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 pm, on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington, Ontario. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, July 17, from 12pm-1pm and 2pm-3pm, at the same location.
If desired and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Myriam to the Canadian Cancer Society.
