With family at his side, Murray passed away peacefully on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the age of 73.
Beloved husband of 54 years to Bev (nee Cunningham).
Dear old dad to Steve Lorentz (Lori), Kathy Dodds (Paul), the late Kari Lorentz-Wellerdt (Jason) and Cherie Letson (Glen).
Papa to his cherished grandchildren, Matthew (Kim), Ryan, Brittany, Ashley, Makenzie, Ben, Philip (Crystal), Olivia. Grandpa will be remembered by his great grandchildren, Brady, Avery, and Theo.
Brother of Harriet Denstedt, Lucille (Larry) Dahmer, Elaine (Bill) Futher, Carole (Doug) Woolway, Sharyn (Tom) Hall, George (Lynda) Lorentz and brother-in-law of Richard Widmeyer, and Marilyn (Jim) Brearley.
His sidekick Boomer will dearly miss Murray.
He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, Beanzie and his many friends, whom will miss his sense of humour.
Predeceased by his parents Edward and Agnes Lorentz and sister Jackie Widmeyer, brother-in-law Gerald Denstedt and his parents-in-law Irene and Donald Cunningham.
Murray farmed for over 60 years in St. Clements and had a passion for his horses. He also drove for McArthur Transport until 2000.Murray was a charter member of the St. Clements Paradise and Distrct Lions Club and a member of the Old Saints Hockey and Baseball teams. He and Bev enjoyed playing cards with friends especially Solo and Euchre.
Murray’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Thursday from 5-8pm. Due to Covid restrictions, relatives and friends must RSVP to attend Murray’s visitation.
A private funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel. Family and friends are invited to view the service via livestream on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11am through the funeral home website, henrywalser.com/live-streaming.
Interment at St. Clements RC Cemetery.
A special thank you to the palliative care nurses, Vanessa and Rosemary and to Dr. Gareth Jones who provided wonderful care for Murray.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Carmel of St. Joseph, Grand River Hospital – Freeport Palliative Care Unit or St.Clements RC Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
