Obituary of Muriel Marie Webster
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Muriel Marie Webster announce her peaceful passing at the Sus Health Centre on October 8, 2021 at the age of 81. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Jeannette (McKnight) Secord and the wife of the late Clarence Webster.
Muriel was a simple woman, “you know.” She was filled with so much love for her family, that she could barely contain it; especially with her boys. Family time was always the most important thing for her and while everyone else looked forward to Christmas, she and Clarence looked forward to Boxing Day when all their family was together for a meal.
She was the woman who cared for others always before herself. There was an open-door policy in their home, it didn’t matter the time of day or how many friends you brought with you – there was always a place for you at Muriel’s; you were guaranteed a warm place to go, and you never left hungry. She was a wonderful cook and baker; and was known for ‘Poppy’s Thick Sugar Cookies’ that only she could roll just right.
Muriel enjoyed watching sports, although she always said it was Clarence; she was excited to hear the score of the Blue Jays game and often the hockey game could be heard in the background when you called her. She loved bingo and playing crib; although there is speculation it was only so she could be social, but she always ended a day with a round or two of solitaire. She loved to talk and visit with people. The vegetable stand allowed her to meet new people all the time and of course she always enjoyed seeing her regulars.
She will live on in the hearts of her children: Nancy Haslett (Bill) of Rothesay and Paul Webster (Marlo) of Portagevale; two brothers; one sister; six grandchildren: Chase Van deBrand (Erin), Sam Van deBrand (Kim), Ty Van deBrand (Kallie), Abby Van deBrand, Billy Haslett and Dr. Katie Haslett (Chris); her great grandson, Owen; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Norma Van deBrand and by two brothers.
