MOYNES James Jim Henry July 20 1926 — December 5 2021

MOYNES, James (Jim) Henry
July 20, 1926 — December 5, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband and father, James Henry Moynes, at the age of 95. Jim was born and raised in Trail, BC, the only child of “Speed” and Lloid Moynes. He received his Bachelor of Commerce from UBC and successfully continued to run manage and develop the legacy of Moynes Motors in Trail. In the early years, he helped with the tow truck business and delivered coal to the community. The local landmark of Moynes Motors grew from a full-service gas station to a car dealership of various brands.
In his early days, he was involved in stock car racing, skiing, boating, and working on the cabin at Christina Lake. Jim always loved swimming and golfing, and later card games especially at Missionwood Retirement Home in Kelowna. He read extensively and was known for his mischievous witty comments. Jim was always a ‘dapper’ dresser. Jim took great pride in being a veteran who had served, and he was very active in Rotary and the Royal Canadian Legion for 50 years. Jim was proud, supportive, and committed to family, making sure that they all recognized his support of their education and potential in life’s endeavors.
After a wonderful life in Trail, Jim and his loving wife, Dorothy moved to Kelowna to be close to their children and grandchildren. Jim and Dorothy traveled extensively all over the world until they were in their late 80’s.
James Henry Moynes led a long, happy, and prosperous life, and he will be sadly missed and forever remembered. A very special thank you to Cottonwoods Care Center for their loving care over the past two years. Jim is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughters Julie and Jeanie (Andy); grandchildren Allan (Devon), David (Ashley), Katie, Kristy (Justin), Michael (Amy); and great-grandchildren Stella and Rachael.
There will be a private family gathering in Kelowna.
Donations in Jim’s name can be given to the Canadian Red Cross in order to support victims of the BC floods.
