Michael Lawrence Westhaver
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Michael Lawrence Westhaver, age 64, of Sims Settlement on October 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and family. Mike was the son of Carman Westhaver, Caledonia and Phyllis Westhaver, Fox Point.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Suzette (Cross); His sons, Michael Jr (Colleen), Sims Settlement; Jamie (Sarah) Cyprus, TX; His 5 wonderful grandchildren, Callin, Caleb, Logan, Cameron and Hudson; Sisters, Debbie McArthur (Edd), Brandon, MB and Paula Barclay (Richard), Mahone Bay; Brothers, Spencer (Mona) and Kevin (Cathy), both of Fox Point; Sister-in-law, Kathy Pate (Gordon), Austin, TX and brother-in-law, Randy Cross, Dartmouth; “Daddy” Floyd Jollimore, Fox Point; and lots of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Kenny, Sherwood Park, AB and nephew, baby Adam Coolen.
At the age of 16, Mike started his lifelong career in the fishing industry which included scalloping, long lining, gill netting and lobster fishing. This chosen path and love of the water enabled Mike to build strong friendships attributed to his kindness and easy going personality. One, in particular, was the special bond he shared with Hazen (Danny) Boutilier.
Mike had a true passion for cards whether he was playing crib, 45’s, Texas holdem, poker or blackjack. He was well respected and known as a true gentleman to the game.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Cancer and Radiation Units of the VG Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion. Also, special recognition to Lunenburg Co. Palliative Care (Melanie Spence & Dr. Caldeira), as well as, Lunenburg Co. VON.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A family service and burial will be held at a later date
.

We will forever cherish our memories of Mike. We will miss his quick wit and dry sense of humor. We will remember this gentle giant’s loving nature and the grace and courage he showed during his cancer journey.
