It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of Dr. Jay McMullan, who passed away on June 27, 2021, following a tragic cycling accident.
Jay was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Maureen. He is survived by his wife, Heather (MacLean) McMullan, and his three children: Patrick (Barbara), Andrea (Luke), Laura, and his grandchildren: Keiran, Charlotte, and Jack. Jay will be sadly missed by his sister Kelly (Michael), their children, and his beloved extended family.
Jay’s dedication and love for his family was unconditional. As a husband and father, his love was steady and unwavering. Jay’s acts of kindness and compassion were always selfless. Following in his father’s footsteps, he practiced dentistry for 37 years. As a family, we were in awe of his passion for his work and his devotion to the well-being of his patients. As a lifelong learner, he approached life with curiosity, taking every opportunity to learn and grow. Jay’s love of hockey, golf, and cycling created so many meaningful relationships, and he will be deeply missed by his many friends, teammates, colleagues, and patients.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Voluntas Funeral Home, 4695, St-Jean Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9H 2A7, on Wednesday July 7, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A private Funeral Mass for immediate family will be held the following day. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Blair and the devoted staff at CHUM for their care. As Jay was a prostate cancer survivor, donations in his memory to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
Jay offered generous support in quiet ways, often when nobody was watching. It is fitting that his final act was to provide the gift of life through organ donation.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Voluntas (514-695-7979, www.voluntas.ca).
