McGowan, Kathryn ‘Kate’
Kate McGowan of Clarksburg passed away peacefully at Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound with family by her side on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the age of 62.
Born in Meaford on August 1, 1958, Kate was the daughter of the late Keith and Doris (nee Vail) McGowan.
She was the proud mother and best friend of Steven ‘Toad’ McGowan and his partner Sarah.
Kate will be missed dearly by John Copland, her partner of more than 30 years, and her furry companions Cooper and Mr. Muggins who were an extremely important part of her family.
She was the much loved sister of Jim McGowan (Diane), Allan McGowan, John McGowan (Connie) and Glen McGowan (Donna), and will be remembered fondly by her many nieces, nephews and their families.
Kate loved life and made the most of each day! She enjoyed cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and anything with a motor that could go fast. She spent many hours at car shows with her son Steven admiring different kinds of vehicles. Kate was a wonderful friend and was always there to listen or help. She was a ‘tell it like it is’ gal, she always had your back and it didn’t matter how long it had been since you’d seen her, she would greet you with a bright smile and a funny and kind word. She was definitely a bright light for many and will be missed.
