Obituary
Maureen Douglas, “Moe”
December 31, 1946 – October 8, 2021
After a heartbreaking 5 year decline due to dementia dear Moe has been released from her earthbound body. May her mother (Phyllis), father (Ernie), brother (Peter) and beloved pups (Gabby, Shelby, Rosie) welcome her on the other side.
She is survived by her best friend and beloved husband Michael, her step children Rob (Cheryl) and Heather, grandchildren Lola, Eva, Rachel, her younger sister Angela Colins, and her dog Lily.
Maureen was born and raised in Toronto and as a young adult travelled to both Nova Scotia and Alberta with the Royal Canadian Air Force. This is where she met her first husband, Michael Delisle, a pilot, who died tragically in a plane crash.
She met her second husband Michael Douglas in Barrie where they lived in their lakeside home in Shanty Bay for 35+ years. She also enjoyed their winter home in Jupiter, Florida and their summer home in Pointe-Au-Baril, Ontario where they had a great community of friends.
When visiting Moe you could always expect a delicious meal with a decadent desert, a book recommendation, and tales of her and Mike’s latest travel adventure. She had a passion for exploring new places and they visited every continent together with the exception of Australia. Moe always had a beloved dog companion in her life, most often a standard poodle, whom she delighted in allowing to sneak into their bed for a morning cuddle much to Mike’s chagrin. She enjoyed kicking Mike’s butt in a game of ping pong or Scrabble, playing tennis at the cottage with her friends, and volunteering with the Maycourt Club in Barrie.
We will miss you Moe.
