Obituary of Mary MacKeigan
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth MacKeigan on April 24, 2021.
Born in New Glasgow on September 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Eliza (Keddy) Hawboldt.
Mary was a kind and caring person who loved her family dearly, and was like a second mom to many. She always loved her hugs from everyone. Even though she had many health issues in the last few years, she always showed great strength and bounced back with determination. Mary enjoyed the simple things in life and was content to be at home where she loved her flowers. Mom loved all animals, but especially enjoyed watching “her deer” and all the different birds.
Mary is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years Melvin; children, Susan Watters, Debbie Beaton (Larry), and Pat MacKeigan (Donna); grandchildren, Craig (Lisa), Chris (Hillary), Kirk (Kris) Watters; Willis and Hannah MacKeigan; great-grandsons, Liam, Carter, Hayden and Greyson and newborn great-grand daughter Chloe Mary. She is also survived by step-grandchildren Sonya, Tanya, Jennifer, Heather, Meagan and their families; sister Dorothy Rogers; brothers, Dick Hawboldt (Francis), Paul Melanson(Sharon); and former son-in-law Albert Watters.
She was predeceased by siblings Bob Hawboldt, Sally MacDonald, Judy Wade, and Pauline “Boots” Melanson and infant sister Georgina.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to “her girls” from the V.O.N. Their daily home care enabled Mom to achieve her greatest wish, which was to stay in her own home. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitations. A private service by invitation only will take place.
