Obituary of Mary Lavis
At Wingham & District Hospital on Tuesday, December 07, 2021, Mary Lavis of Wingham passed away at the age of 89.
Beloved wife of Jim Lavis. Loving mother of Jane & Gord Machan, Ruth & Dale Machan, Joan & Ross Livingston and Dan & Pat Campbell. Devoted grandma of nine and great-grandma of twenty-six. Dear sister-in-law of Betty Darling, Bessie Johnston, Mary Shean, Lillian Smith (Ron), Isabel Campbell, Mary Campbell and Jerry Barrett. Cherished ‘other mother’ of Jenny Tickell and numerous foster children. She will be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Grandma Mary as she was affectionately known by at the Wingham Daycare will be lovingly remembered by the many children who over the years found comfort in her kitchen and in her cooking.
Predeceased by her first husband Charles Campbell (1969), daughter Nancy (1958), sons David (1974) and Bradley (1991) and brothers Don, Harry, George and Jim Darling.
A private family service will be held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Friday, December 10th, 2021 with interment at Wingham Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation or the Huron County Christmas Bureau (Huron-Perth Childrens Aid Society) would be appreciated.
