Obituary
MaryAnn Woollard
Born: November 28, 1944
Died: July 25, 2021
MaryAnn Woollard (nee Koenigbaur) was the youngest of 5 children born to Otto and Annie Koenigbaur on the family farm near Fort Livingston (Pelly, SK). She was known as the eye drop baby as the attending doctor forgot to bring a bottle and she was initially fed with an eye dropper. It was while attending Devinshire school that she started to catch for her older brothers all avid fastball players that her love for the game began.
At the age of 16 she moved into Kamsack with her parents and almost immediately began working at Davis Drugs. She continued playing ball with the Kamsack Royals and bowling at the Kamsack Lanes. She bowled inter-provincially playing at a number of Western and Canadian Championships. And was a prolific softball player, catching and playing third base for a number of teams in the Kamsack area and throughout the province highlighted by finishing 2nd at the Western Canadian Softball Championships and winning a Saskatchewan Provincial Championships. It was in the bowling alley where her nickname MAK (her initials) first caught the eyes of Tim Woollard who was new in town and wondered who it was that bowled all those 300 singles and 900 triples to have the high score on nearly every lane in town. He was told it was the little girl from the drug store and when he met her he was smitten.
Mary Ann and Tim got married on November 8th, 1969. Mary Ann’s nickname changed from MAK to MAW. A name that followed her around the bowling allies and ball fields of Saskatchewan until her retirement from both sports in 1989 at the age of 48. MaryAnn and Tim spent their next 51 years together moving from Kamsack to Yorkton, to Regina to Craik, from Fon Du Lac to Sandy Lake before coming back to Kamsack in 1977 where they opened up the store. TLM Confectionary and Groceries became a staple of Kamsack and the surrounding area for the next 21 years as people stopped at the little store with the cartoons to pick up milk, eggs, bags of 5 cent candy or to rent a movie.
MaryAnn was a staple behind the till or in the isles. She loved seeing people and hearing there stories or telling her own. It was a family run store and every customer was family.
In 1998 MaryAnn and Tim retired with plans to travel. They got of to a good start seeing Australia and Germany and taking a few road trips out West and down south before health problems put travel plans on pause. Despite the health problems Mary Ann and Tim were able to make a couple last trips out to Vancouver, around Saskatchewan retracing former schools, ball fields and memories and a cruise to Alaska with their son and daughters as well as their grandkids. MaryAnn really cherished these times.
MaryAnn is predeceeded by her husband Tim, her parents Annie and Otto, her brothers Ranny, Rudy and Laurie as well as her sisters in law Anne, Trish and Lois.
She leaves behind her son Michael, daughter, Lee Ann (Chris) Gagnon, niece/daughter Serena Shane, brother Benny and Sister in laws Jean (Harold) and Carol.
