Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our much loved sister Maryann Lafreniere at the Lions Prairie Manor on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the age of 80 years.
Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Malvina and she will greeted in heaven by her siblings, sister Joyce Gobelle and brothers, John, Ralph and Raymond and other family members.
She will be dearly missed by her brother Cliff (Loreen) Lafreniere of Portage la Prairie and her sister Sharron (Cal) Jefford of Gold River, BC, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Maryann was born on November 22nd, 1940 and raised and educated in Portage. She was very sociable and always enjoyed reminiscing about her childhood. She cherished the friendships she developed while at ARC Industries and while a resident at Oak Tree Towers. She was an animal lover and would rescue many puppies, kittens and canaries that came her way.
She was a strong Catholic and very much appreciated receiving communion even when she was no longer able to attend mass.
A private family interment will take place at a later date at Hillside Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Maryann’s memory to Lions Prairie Manor Foundation Inc, 24 – 9th Street NE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3V4.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
