Mary Frances Snair
age 77, of Hubbards. It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of such a kind, loving, and generous woman.
Mary is survived by her daughter Tanya (Adam) Pelley, son Scott Snair, sisters: Joan (Fred) Alexie, Beverly (Homer) Garrison, Marilyn Messervey, brother: Brian (Elaine) Brewer; many nieces, nephews, and her pride and joy – her granddaughters Brooke and Grace. She was pre-deceased by her husband Raymond Snair; father, Gerald Brewer; mother, Augustine, stepfather, John Laney; and sister, Linda Brewer. This is a loss felt by not only Mary’s family and friends but also her community.
Mary was a woman like no other. To those who knew her, she was a person with a heart of gold, and someone who would happily lend a hand whenever she could. Mary welcomed people into her home and her heart, as though she knew them her whole life. She was the life of any party, always with a good laugh and strong drink of rum. Her smile could light up any room, and her laugh would truly echo through any hallway. Her jokes and antics kept her young and kept those around her always coming back for more. Mary always had one of her classic jokes up her sleeve and was quick as a whip to come up with something smart to say. Those who worked with her during her 24 years at Snair’s Bakery got to know her sense of humour well. Mary was a hard worker but knew how to have a good time, something her family and friends knew all too well. Mary loved to play bingo and could often be found at the Hubbards Lions Club cooking the senior dinners or lending a hand to help whenever she could. Mary was well known for her abilities as a cook but and love of baking for people in the community. She looked forward to nights filled with music and dancing, especially those where Scott sang and played his guitar and her family and friends gathered around to join in. She was always proud of her family, and she made sure everyone around her knew it.
Due to the current limitations of attendees permitted for a gathering, we will be having a celebration of life at a later date in order to fully and properly honour the love we all have for Mary. She will be with us, so get your songs, stories, and jokes ready to share, as you know how much she loved them.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Cancer Society. Online condolences can be made to www.rawalker.ca
