Eldeen (also known as Nana to many) passed away suddenly in her home on October 1, 2021 in Langley, B.C. at the age of 83.
Eldeen was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Angela, son Dennis, brother Skip and brother in laws Bob, Tom and George.
She is survived by her daughters Candius (Allen) Cadenhead of Lone Butte, B.C., and myself , Barbara (Chris) Brown , of Kimberley B.C. Mom also leaves behind her three grandsons Lee Wienecke of Kimberley B.C., Tom (Scott) Daly and Brandon (Garner) Brown all of Victoria B.C. Mom is also survived by her sisters Lou, Rose and Marlene, sister in law Judy, good friend Tillie, and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was employed as a secretary by the Langley School Board for most of her working career.
In Mom’s early days she enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and working on the farm. After retirement Mom began quilting and joined the quilting group at her church. She helped make many quilts and was always busy cutting fabric squares and sewing them together at home. It was at her church quilting group where she met Darlene who she fondly called her 3rd daughter. With my sister and I living so far away Darlene and her family welcomed Mom into their family. Mom also cherished her church family and we are thankful she had so many people that cared about her.
Mom loved being a grandmother and her grandsons always cherished her summer road trip visits to Kimberley when they were young . The tables turned as they got older and Nana always enjoyed and looked forward to her grandsons stopping in for a visit when they were on a road trip. They had a very special bond.
Mom will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew her. She was one special lady.
There will be a small family service in the spring as requested by Mom.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Langley, B.C. or the SPCA is appreciated.
I’ll never forget the last text I got from you Mom the morning of your passing. You sounded so happy.
”My turn to enjoy the hummingbirds. Even with the fushia plant so close to the door every bloom was checked out … got to watch them about 3 minutes. My entertainment for the day”
