In keeping with his wishes and with broken hearts we share the passing of Martin “Marty” James Fitzsimmons, on November 26th 2020, at St Marys Memorial hospital, at the age of 66.
Marty worked for the LCBO for over 30 years of his life. He started as a clerk in Windsor, Ontario and retired at the aged of 55 as the manager of the St Marys LCBO location. Marty was affectionately called “Tunes” by many of his friends because of his deep love and knowledge of all things music. He had an extensive record collection and was always ready to share a Tune with you. Marty leaves behind his much loved wife, Alexis Fitzsimmons and his daughter, Shannon Wright (Dave), and 3 grandchildren, Christian, Faith and Elissa Wright. Marty was predeceased by his parents Anna and Jack Fitzsimmons and by his sister Connie Upcott and brother in law Rob Rutherford. Survived by his sister Mary Rutherford of Windsor, his brother Tim of BC, brother in law David Upcott of Amherstburg and their families.
Marty was also a member of the St Marys Army/Navy Club, unit #265. He will be greatly missed by many members that he spent countless afternoons with. Many thanks to Dr. Charles Gatfield and Dr. Jon Schiedel for the care and support that they provided, and especially to the nurses who brought many smiles to his face. We should have had more time.
A celebration of life Open House will be held by the family at the St. Marys ANAF, 23 Wellington St. N. ST. Marys, on October 23, 2021 from 1 – 4 p.m. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Marys Healthcare Foundation.
