MARJORIE LORRAINE CHAIKOWSKI
(nee: Laliberte)
June 19, 1925 – April 19, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved beautiful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marjorie Chaikowski at the age of 95 years, who peacefully passed away on April 19, 2021 at Pembina Place Mennonite (Deaf Centre Manitoba).
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph, sister Eleanor and parents Eugene and Elizabeth.
Mom will be greatly missed by her son Randy (Linda), daughter Sue (Linda) and Rita (Ken), her grandchildren, Lorie (Ray), Holly, Corey (Christina), Sally (Mark), Cathy (Ian), Greg (Cecilia), and Jonathan, and great-grandchildren, Daniella, Kendra, Malwina, Zedislava, Harley, Peyton, and Emma. She will also be missed by her brother, Eugene (Nancy), and many extended family and friends.
Mom was a very friendly, caring person who had a heart of gold. Mom was born in Kenora, Ontario and enjoy walk around lake. She went to Belleville School for the Deaf by train from Kenora. In 1944 Marjorie met and married her true love, Joseph Chaikowski. It was love at first sight and they spent 53 years together until his passing in 1998. Mom loved to travel to watch the Canadian Deaf Curling Championships. You could always see mom and her best friend, Shirley Fargey, enjoying the games cheering on Manitoba. And we cannot forget mom’s love of watching her beloved Blue Jays and curling on T.V. Mom was a huge supporter of the Deaf community and Deaf curlers. Mom attended Manitoba Deaf Seniors Club activities (her favorite – Witty Whist game) every Friday until the outbreak of Covid19. Mom thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she especially enjoyed going out for dinner with her family and having a glass of wine.
A private service for family will be held later this year.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the staff at Pembina Place Mennonite (Deaf Centre Manitoba). Thank you for the extraordinary care and support made our beloved mother happy and comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Deaf Sports Association (CDSA) – the National Deaf Curling Program, CP 41035, CSP Centre Duvernay, 3100 boul. Concorde Est, Laval, Quebec, H7E 5H1 or on line at www.assc-cdsa.com.
“We love you and you will always be in our hearts.
Rest in peace
