Marjorie Gibbons
August 09, 1946 – March 16, 2021
It is with profound sadness and with heavy hearts the family of Marjorie (Marge) Gertrude Bernice Gibbons announce her sudden death, due to heart attack, surrounded by her adoring family on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. A wonderful woman, Marge (nee Stagg) was 74 years old. She was born on August 9, 1946 at Cape Island, NL.
Marge is predeceased by her parents, Stella (Vincent) and Oswald Stagg, and brother Ted. Left to mourn with a lifetime of cherished memories, the love of Marge’s life and best friend, husband of 54 years, Rex Gibbons, her 3 children whom she was so proud of, Kim (Glenn Templeman), Emily, Vince, as well as her only granddaughter Katie. Also leaving to mourn her are her only sister Gloria Wareham (Terry), and brothers Harold, Eugene (Sarah), Scott (Geraldine), Dave (Gail), Terry (Judy); sisters-in-law Glenys (Nelson Harris), Cheryl (Don Sturge), Lucy (Art Norris), and brothers-in-law Calvin (Barbara), Randy (Trixie), Boyd (Elaine) and as well as a large extended family who adored her, many special nieces and nephews and a multitude of caring friends and neighbours.
The family would like to say thank you to the paramedic teams for their kindness and support.
Marge will be forever and fondly remembered for her love and care of her family, her love of a cup of coffee, or a trip to the cabin at Windmill Bight for a game of cards with her good friends, and singing loudly to George Jones, but what she truly loved the most was her family.
We will continue to celebrate Marge’s life in all the things she enjoyed: A walk on Cape Island Beach, her flower gardens in bloom every summer, and dinner every Sunday surrounded by her family.
As one of her good friends said: All that’s in my head is “He stopped loving her today” and those words now take on a different meaning because he will never stop loving her today, nor will I.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private viewing for immediate family will take place, and in keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated and some of her ashes buried with her parents in New Wes Valley.
No service will be held. A celebration of Marge’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Caul’s Funeral Home. Thank you to John Anderson, friend and neighbor and Rex’s longtime curling buddy, for your care at this difficult time.
