October 8, 2021
Age 63, Grand Étang/Chéticamp, passed away peacefully at home in Chéticamp on Friday, October 8, 2021. Born in Chéticamp on May 12, 1958, to the late Eleonore (Cormier) and Arthur LeBlanc, Véronique is survived by her husband, Bruno Bourgeois; stepdaughter, Sonja (Jamie) Williams; stepson, Kyle Bourgeois; sister, Hilda (Gussie) Chiasson and brother, Marcel LeBlanc. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Ulric.
Known for cooking and baking the most amazing meals and desserts, she showcased her talent for the patients and residents of the Centre de Santé Sacré-Coeur and Le Foyer Père Fiset during a 20- year career as Director of Dietary Services. Family and friends were regulars at her kitchen table and for years, she was sought after for catering weddings and special events.
After her retirement in 2017, she spent her time gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles and in her favorite spot, her kitchen, where she was happiest. An avid traveler, her bags were always packed and ready for the next trip, whether it be to Spain or Nashville or Florida with friends or family.
Véronique will be remembered by countless close friends and family members for her loyalty, wittiness, and generous nature. The family is so appreciative of the support and kindness shown to them during the past several months of her cancer journey.
Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Église Saint-Joseph in St. Joseph-du-Moine with Father Pierre Antoine St-Cyr officiating. Burial to follow in parish cemetery. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, masks and proof of both vaccinations are mandatory to attend.
