A very special person in our lives passed away peacefully at Marshall Gowland Manor at the age of 89 , October 30, 2021, our very dear Mom, and Nama, predeceased by dear husband John (2014) of 62 years marriage. Marie was born in Toronto to parents Ada and Bert Heathcote. Growing up in Toronto, Marie enjoyed many summers at Fenelon Falls, until she met John at Bigwin Inn, Muskoka where they fell in love and married in 1952. Marie leaves behind her dear sister and best friend, Jessie Muir of Fenelon Falls and dear sister-in-law, Allie Davis of Florida. Caring and loving mom to Ted (Sandy) Eager of Burlington, Andrea (Ed) Ysebaert of Brights Grove, and Cameron (Joanne) Eager of Sarnia. Cherished Nama to Lisa (Artem) Dessiatkine of Burlington, Jenna Eager of Toronto, Alison Meriano (Jose) of Milton, Nicole (Gil) Camara of Aldershot, Bradley (Ashleen) Ysebaert of Corunna, Bryan (Jessica) Ysebaert of Heritage Pointe, Alberta, Andrew (Laurel) Ysebaert of Courtright, Leanne Eager (Matt) of Sarnia, and Derek (Sheena) Eager of Brights Grove. After many moves, Marie and John left Calgary, where they settled in Sarnia. Marie worked at the Rotary Center for children and then they opened their business, Lighting Unlimited which they had for many years. Upon retiring Marie enjoyed working alongside her family at Cam and Joanne’s past business, Corunna Home Hardware. Marie also volunteered at the Heart and Stroke office, and the hospital in the oncology department for many years. Marie loved her weekends in Bayfield, on the golf course and yearly summer cottaging to Huntsville with the whole family making so many special memories together. She was so blessed to have such wonderful friends, neighbours and her loving family over the years! Thank you to so many wonderful people and organizations that have helped our family over the years and to Marshall Gowland Manor for all the wonderful compassion, and care for our Mom “Sweet Marie” these last few years. A private family graveside service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery. In memory of Marie, if desired, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Grace United Church, or Parkinson Canada (cheques mailed to the funeral home or made online, please).
