On April 15, 1940 Maria Friesen was born to Henry and Katherine Bueckert in the village of Neuhorst, the fifth of six children. She grew up and went to school in Neuhorst. At the age of seven, she got very sick with rheumatic fever and spent the next year in and out of the Warman Hospital. She grew up to be a beautiful young woman and met the love of her life in the fall of 1956. She married Henry Friesen on October 11, 1958. Their love grew and they had four beautiful children: two girls and two boys. She spent the last two weeks of her life at Royal University Hospital. Due to COVID, she only had Henry as a visitor and support until the last day of her life.
She was a great wife and mother. She will be cherished and remembered by her husband Henry of 62 years and her daughter Kimberly Alexander (Barry Wolfe), daughter-in-law Brenda Friesen, daughter Pamela (George) Guenter, and son Kelly (Caroline) Friesen; 12 grandchildren Charles, Steven, Jolene, Marrissa, Kaitlin (Evan), Evan, David (Rachel), Paul, Maria, Darcy (Matthew), Sara, and Cody; 14 great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law Mavis Tompalski and Lydia Bueckert.
Maria was predeceased by her son Travis in 2019, her parents Henry and Katherine Bueckert, all five of her siblings; Isaac Bueckert, Anna (Aaron) Bueckert, Eva (Henry) Giesbrecht, Susan (Peter) Yuzik, and Henry Bueckert.
