Marguerite Joyce Eastman, nee Giffen passed June 5, 2021 in her 88th year. She passed peacefully at Sunset Manor. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, brother Garth and parents Margaret and Robert Giffen. After leaving her childhood farm at Sunnidale Corners, Joyce worked at the Noisy River Telephone company in Stayner as a telephone operator. Afterwards, she moved to Toronto where she worked for Bell Canada. While in her mid 30s, she moved to southern California where she met her beloved, Charles and worked as a hair stylist. Together, she and Charles enjoyed travelling, music, singing and friendships with dear friends. Joyce was a very talented seamstress. She created and sewed all of the elaborate costumes annually for their group’s church chorale concerts, won recognition at county fairs for her crochet and wall hangings among other sewing projects for family and friends. She loved gardening and animals, especially cats. People knew her to be witty. She returned to Simcoe County after her husband passed to live her remaining years in the company of her sister in law Catharine, niece, her niece’s husband and nephews. Joyce will be laid to rest beside her husband in Riverside National Cemetery, located in Riverside, California. Donations are appreciated and can be made in her honour to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society or Sunset Manor, Collingwood, Ontario.
