Our hearts are broken again… It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing at the Palliative Care Centre of a special, and very courageous person Margie Whitty, a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who battled cancer for almost 6 years.
Margie is recently predeceased by her loving and caring husband Gary, July 7, 2021. This week will mark their 38th wedding anniversary
Also, preceding Margie are her parents Nick and Agnes Dunne, her siblings Philippa and Ben Dunne and Tish Dwyer, her sister-in-law Shelia Dunne, niece Vanessa Stapleton and her parents-in-law David and Grace Whitty.
Margie leaves behind with broken hearts her two sons, whom she was so proud of, Mark (Samantha) and Steven (Christina Burke) and her precious granddaughter Holly, who was the joy of her life.
Margie also leaves to mourn with loving memories 3 sisters and 1 brother. Shirley (Kevin Stapleton), Anna (Mike Edmunds), Ig (Janet Fitzgerald) Cecilia (John Broderick), and special nephew Paul (Sheri), sister-in-law Bernadette Dunne, and brother-in-law Matt Dwyer and many nieces and nephews. Also, many sisters and brothers in law, and nieces and nephews of the Whitty family.
Margie also leaves behind a large circle of friends who became an extended family, especially Margie Dicks, Barb Wall, Cathy Young, her SOS sisters, the card girls, her neighbors and close friends in Kilbride, her family, and friends from Renews, her coworkers, the dedicated staff from the Cancer Clinic, and countless more people who knew her. Please know that your kind gestures over the years were appreciated, and the family is forever grateful.
Margie was a social butterfly. Her sense of humor filled the room as she was always up for a good time. She loved to be in the presence of others and was happiest surrounded by her friends and family. Even in her darkest days she found light and never gave up; she was strong.
Special thanks to her homecare worker Lorraine for her care and compassion, and to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit for their professionalism and empathy during this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Cauls Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Friday, August 27th, 2021 from 12pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm.
Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Corpus Christi Parish, Waterford Bridge Road. Inurnment to follow at Kilbride Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 number restrictions, people wishing to attend the service must register with the family during visitation hours, or call 364-3781
