Obituary
BAUN, Margaret Rose
March 24, 1939 – September 21, 2021
It is with profound sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 82. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Lorne; parents John and Emma Reutlinger; and sisters Betty Lou Reutlinger and Bertha (Lyle) Beck. Margaret is survived by her children Leah (Jeff) Abrook, Craig (Luanne) Baun; and 5 grandchildren Benjamin and Jaden Abrook, Brady, Boden and Bryn Baun; brother John (Hope) Reutlinger, sisters Lorraine Fitch and Evelyn Clough; brothers Bill Reutlinger, Clarence (Margaret) Reutlinger, Ernie (Dianne) Reutlinger and sister Doris July; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Margaret was born in the Naicam District on March 24, 1939. She grew up on the farm and attended Norwegian Grove School in the St. James District. At a very young age Margaret already knew the value of hard work and the true meaning and importance of family. Living on a farm where her father worked very hard, homesteading, breaking up the land and finally getting it ready to seed, there was always lots of housework and many chores for Margaret and her 8 brothers and sisters to do. Despite the work that had to be done Margaret and her siblings worked together and even though there was lots to do they always had lots of fun. When the opportunity to go to Calgary to find a job came up Margaret decided to go. She worked as a switchboard operator for Alberta Government Telephone Company. She very much enjoyed Calgary and meeting new people. After losing both parents suddenly Margaret did not hesitate to move back home to the farm to help and look after her younger siblings. Margaret found her way to Saskatoon where she met and married her perfect match Lorne. She worked for Coke-a-cola while Lorne worked for Pepsi Cola – it wasn’t long before Margaret was asked to make a choice….. She then worked for Beaver Lumber. All of Margaret’s accounting skills came in handy as she became Lorne’s right hand business partner as they owed and managed Shell Service Stations for 35+ years. Margaret would say her absolute best accomplishment would be her two children. She couldn’t be more proud, family was everything. She was passionate about her 5 beautiful grandchildren. There was absolutely nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She would totally light up when she saw or talked about them. Friends were also super important to Margaret and she often spoke of how so very thankful she was to have been blessed with the friends that she had. She loved spending time at the lake, and it became extra special when her family could all be there with her. Margaret was truly a genuine kind and loving person, known for her warm smile and willingness to help anyone. She worked tirelessly never seeking recognition. She had a faith that made her shine and even though she didn’t always understand why things happened the way they did she never ever doubted that the big guy upstairs was in total control. She will be deeply missed by many. She made the world a better place. Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to a charity of one’s choice. A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church (323 4th Ave S) in Saskatoon. The service will be recorded and viewable the following day at: www.faithproductions.ca/livestream Arrangements in care of Chelsea Krentz – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
