Lynn Angus Walter McIntyre passed away peacefully at the Barrie Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 8th at the age of 82. He was in the presence of his devoted and loving wife and son. Predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret (Arthur); his brother, Glenn; and his brother, Dale, and sister-in-law, Elisabeth. He leaves to mourn Betty, his wife of 54 years; his son, Dwight and daughter-in-law, Stacey Boychuk; his cherished grandchildren, Aynslie, Duncan and Maeve; his sister-in-law, Barbara McIntyre; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bradley and Diane Arthur. He also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends. Community played an important role in Lynn’s life as he spent many decades involved in the Athelstan Community Sports Association, the Athelstan Presbyterian Church, the Huntingdon Curling Club, and various other organisations for which he volunteered. Several of these years were also spent in the proud employment of Cleyn & Tinker. Always willing to lend a hand, Lynn was a positive, dependable and constant influence in many people’s lives. Public visitations will be held on Saturday, July 17th from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Athelstan Presbyterian Church. Funeral and burial will be held in the intimacy of the family. Burial at Hillside Cemetery. Donations in his memory can be sent to SABEC, the Betty Riel Foundation, the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Barrie Memorial Hospital, or the Athelstan Presbyterian Church.
