It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lydia Marie (nee Cooze) announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, August 18th, 2021, at the remarkable age of 101 years. She now joins her beloved husband, the late Stephen Peckford in heaven.
She will be sadly missed by her 7 children, Barbara (Mike Quigley), Carl (Georgina), Ron (Pat), Wayne (Mary) of Kelowna, BC, Glen (Abbie), Rudy (Christine), and Greg (Karen); her 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Lydia was pre-deceased by her infant daughter Barbara, son Walter, and daughter in-law Linda. Lydia was loved by all for her strong will, determination, and elegance. When not playing bingo, she was at her best when surrounded by laughter from her many large family gatherings on Kings Road.
Our family Queen is now in heaven however her legacy will live on in the generations she has left behind.
The family would like to acknowledge the many nurses and staff of Mountain View Retirement Home, Western Memorial Regional Hospital, and Western Long Term Care Palliative Care Unit for their kind and compassionate care.
Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on St. Mark’s Ave on Friday, August 20th from 5-9pm, to a maximum of 30 people in the building at one time. The funeral service will be held at St. John The Evangelist Church, Main Street on Saturday August 21st, 2021 at 2pm, with The Very Rev. Catherine Short officiating, followed by Interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in the memory of Lydia can be made to Daffodil Place or the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada.
