Obituary
It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of (Lorna) Lucille Cox on Thursday May 20 in Portage General Hospital at the age of 87.
Lucille is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Donna (Allan) Tarr, sons Mark (Diane), Kerry (Liana), 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandsons, brother-in-law Lyle (Deann) Cox and sister-in-law Helen Rands.
She was predeceased by her parents Cecile and Janet Rands, brothers Glen and Deb Rands, sister Georgina Parker and brother-in-law Verne Parker.
Lucille was born in Orangeville on August 9, 1933 and grew up in the Orangeville school district. At the age of 17 she taught on Permit at Southend school and met the love of her life Jim Cox. She moved to Winnipeg to attend Tuxedo Normal School for teacher training and after taught at Path Head and Currie schools. She took a few years off of teaching to raise a family and went back teaching in Austin until retiring in June of 1993.
After retiring she and Jim built their new home. She loved gardening and spent many hours creating a beautiful park-like yard chock full of flowers.
She belonged to the Communities in Bloom and the Heritage House group for many years. She was an active member of the MacGregor United Church and was always counted on to bake pies, knit prayer shawls, and help organize the United Church Talent Auction.
The family would like to thank Drs. Jim and Russell Price for their years of care and the wonderful staff of Portage General Hospital for their care and compassion. A big thank you to their neighbours who are always there to help out and drop off goodies.
Cremation has taken place and a family burial will be done when Covid restrictions permit.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the MacGregor United Church.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Lucille Cox August 9 1933 May 20 2021 (age 87)..
