Louise Maxine (Murphy) Starratt

Louise Maxine (Murphy)
Starratt
March 2, 1928 – December
12,2021
Louise was born March 2, 1928 in Avondale, NS. After
completing business – secretarial school, Louise settled in the
Halifax area where she raised her family and worked for many
years.
Mom was passionate about her church and volunteer work and a
member of Birch Cove Baptist Church for many years. For the past 27
years, through World Vision and Compassion Canada, she made a
significant difference in the lives of the many children she
sponsored.
An accomplished cook, she was known for her baked goods which
graced many fundraising tables and church dinners. An avid reader she
still made time to pursue other hobbies including needlepoint,
knitting beautiful outfits for her grandchildren and long walks to
pick blueberries.
Her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren were the
light of her life with their photos filling every room.
While we know she is now home with a God she devoutly
believed in, we will miss her terribly. Her grace, strength,
resilience, and generosity were remarkable, but it was her incredible
wry sense of humour that really made her shine. She blamed it on the
Irish.
She was predeceased by parents, Aubrey Alison and Mildred May
(Sanford) Murphy; brothers, John, Earl, Gerald, Maurice, Winfred, and
Walter; and sisters, Annie, Mildred, and Helen; son-in-law, Dr. George
Salib; son, Gary; and dear friend, John MacPherson.
Surviving are her brother, Harley Murphy; son, Wayne Starratt
(Sharon); daughters, Betty Salib and Barbara Clark; grandchildren,
Jennifer Salib-Huber (Brent), Ashlee Starratt (Saviour), Alison Rajan
(Sreedeep), Neal Clark, Ian Clark (Vanessa), Emily Clark, Christopher
Starratt (Christine), Lisa Starratt (Matthew); daughter-in-law Kathy
Starratt; and great grandchildren, Maeve Huber, Maren Huber, Beckett
Huber, Katrina Clark, and Natalia Clark.
The family wish to thank the Wolfville Nursing Home for Mom’s
wonderful care over the past two years. A family graveside service
will be held in the spring at the Newport Landing Cemetery in
Avondale. Donations in memory may be made to World Vision.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
