Lorraine’s Obituary
Lorraine Bassendowski passed away peacefully on the morning of July 13th at the age of 98. She was born March 29th, 1923, on a farm near Shamrock, SK. She was predeceased by her husband Ted Bassendowski; parents Albert and Ella Leitch; brother Sam Leitch; sister Mary Campbell and numerous brother and sister in-laws. Lorraine is survived by and leaves to mourn her daughters Diane MacSorley and Denise (Greg) Wilkins; granddaughter Kathleen Brown (Ian Bedlington); grandson Jordan Wilkins; brothers Ray and Ken as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom taught in serval country schools and was in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in World War II. After their marriage in 1946, mom and dad farmed near Kelstern, SK until 1968 when they moved to Moose Jaw, SK. Mom was an avid quilter, talented painter, and a wonderful cook. Most of all she was a loving mother and grandmother and will be forever missed. For the last year mom resided at Providence Place in Moose Jaw, and she would like to thank the staff for their care of her. At mom’s request there will be no funeral. Cremation and a private family interment have taken place. A celebration of her life will be held sometime in the future. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Lorraine’s name can be made to a charity of one’s choice. In living memory of Lorraine, a memorial planting will be made by Jones-Parkview Funeral Services
