A Private Family Celebration of Lorne’s Life will take place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church at a later date.
Lorne had many friends and family across the globe. He was always up for a good conversation. His quest for knowledge was never ending and for those who knew him, he really was a walking “Book of Knowledge”.
Lorne studied Electronics at E.O.I.T. in Ottawa and went on to work in Installation across the country with Automatic Electric. He then taught Electronics at St. Lawrence College Brockville. He went on to accept a position in Ottawa at Bell Northern Research and worked in the high-tech sector for many years. Lorne continued his technical writing career, commuting back and forth from Brockville to Ottawa for 25 years. During that time he also volunteered as an Auxiliary Constable with the O.P.P. for 21 years. He was highly commended for his dedication and principles. Right up to the start of COVID, Lorne enjoyed his retirement job at Home Depot.
Lorne loved fixing things and understanding how they worked. He loved travelling, multiculturalism, exploring, computers, technology, gardening, music, reading and his grand-puppy Coco. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand.
His love of nature was infused in everything he did and he saw beauty in the simplest things. Lorne was a kind person and a gentle presence in his whole family’s lives. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was loving, caring and present; bringing constant support. He will be remembered as a calming and grounding presence. He was known for his witty sense of humor. We all feel so fortunate to have had him in our lives. He lived every moment to the fullest and encouraged his family to do the same.
He was such a special person and was loved dearly.
In memory of Lorne, donations to St. Paul’s Anglican Church Rector’s Discretionary fund for the Homeless or St. Paul’s Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolence may be made online at www.barclayfuneralhome.com.
