Obituary of Lorna Evans
Lorna Evans, beloved wife of Walter Martin Evans, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at the age of 82 years.
Lorna was born in Galahad, Alberta on May 21, 1939. She moved to Calgary in 1957 to attend business school. Lorna married Walter Martin Evans on May 16, 1959. They were blessed to have been married for sixty-two years. They were both original members of Foothills Lutheran Church.
Lorna worked twenty-six years as an administrative assistant in the Oil and Gas Industry and, to keep busy during her retirement, she spent a few hours each week for 20 years filling greeting card shelves for Hallmark Cards.
Lorna was devoted to her family; she hosted family dinners every Sunday for many years and was an integral part of raising her grandchildren; she cherished annual trips to Maui with her family where they made friends over the years, planting and caring for flowers in summer and the joy of her grand-children’s dog Buddy.
Besides her loving husband Walter, Lorna is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Evans, Phoenix, AZ, and Jennifer Miles, Calgary, AB, son-in-law Bradley Miles, and two grandchildren, Benjamin Miles, London, England and Amy Miles, Calgary, AB. She is also survived by her two brothers and their families, Wilfred Willing, Camrose, AB and Kenneth Willing, Calgary, AB.
Lorna was predeceased by her parents Katherine (nee Knipple) and Christian Willing.
Funeral Services will be held at Foothills Lutheran Church, 3104-34 Avenue NW on Wednesday, September 01, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park Cemetery 3219 4Street NW at 2:00 pm.
