Davidson, Lionel (1924-2021)
La famille Davidson regrette de vous annoncer son décès à Sturgeon Falls, le dimanche 21 février 2021 à l’âge de 97 ans. Il était le fils de Wilfrid Davidson et d’Aurore Tessier. Époux bien-aimé de Jeannine Davidson (née Lamarche). Ils étaient mariés pour 74 ans. Père de deux filles, Judy Davidson-Bertrand (Brian) et Laurie Davidson (Frank Fischer). Grand-père de trois petits-enfants: Lauren Bertrand, Scott Bertrand et Mathieu Fischer. Il laisse aussi une belle-soeur Georgette Davidson (Arthur). Prédécédé par cinq frères: Lucien (Imelda), André (Albertine), Conrad (Florida), George (Blanche) et Arthur ainsi que cinq soeurs Laurencia Trottier (Alphonse), Rosette Séguin (Pitt), Cecile Chevalier(Leo), Annette Vigneux (Leo) et Sr. Eliane Davidson FDLS.
Lionel était un vétéran de la 2ieme guerre mondiale dans la marine canadienne. Il a été un membre de la légion pendant 61 ans. Lui et sa femme Jeannine ont opérés Davidson Furniture pendant 32 ans. Il a aussi été très actif au sein de sa communauté: il a servi pendant 20 ans sur la comission d’Hydro comme président, il a été sur le Conseil d’Administration d’Au Château pour 20 ans, président du Club Kiwanis et de la chambre des commerces et membre du 4ieme degré des Chevaliers de Colomb pour 61 ans.
Lionel aimait aussi jardiner ainsi que de faire la pêche, le ski et le golf. Il aimait s’amuser au chalet avec ses petits-enfants. Le service religieux aura lieu à une date ultérieur, due au Covid.
It is with great sadness that the family of Lionel wishes to announce that he passed away in Sturgeon Falls on Sunday February the 21rst, 2021. He leaves behind his wife Jeanine Davidson (Lamarche). They had been married for 74 years. Dear father of two daughters, Judy Davidson-Bertrand (Brian Bertrand) of North Bay and Laurie Davidson (Frank Fischer) of Toronto. He will be sadly missed by his three grandchildren Lauren Bertrand, Scott Bertrand, and Mathieu Fischer.
Lionel was a veteran of the 2nd World War as a member of the Royal Canadian Navy. He has been a member of the Legion for 61 years. He and his wife Jeannine owned and operated Davidson Furniture for over 32 years. He was also very active in his community. He served for 20 years on the Hydro Commission, 20 years on the Board of Directors at the Au Chateau Home for the Aged in numerous roles including chairman of the board. He was president of the Kiwanis Club and an active member of the Sturgeon Falls Chamber of Commerce. He was also a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member for 61 years.
Lionel was an avid gardener who enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing, skiing, and golfing. He also cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Wilfrid an Aurore Davidson, his five brothers: Lucien (Imelda), George (Blanche), Andre (Albertine), Conrad (Florida), Arthur (Georgette), and his five sisters: Laurence Trottier (Alphonse), Cecile Chevalier (Leo), Annette Vigneux (Leo), Rosette Seguin (Pitt), Sister Marie Wilfrid (Lilliane). He is survived by his sister-in-law Georgette Davidson.
Due to Covid, a service for Lionel will be held at a later date.
