Linda Rae Thompson (nee Morrison) – Aug 8, 1944 – Oct 3, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful loving mother Linda Rae Thompson at the Melfort Union Hospital on October 3, 2021. Linda is in the loving arms of her Lord Jesus and joins her husband Wayne along with her brothers, Richard, Barry, and sister Donna. She passed peacefully with her family at her side and will be missed tremendously.
Linda was born and raised on the family farm near Pleasantdale, SK to Wray (Deceased) and Eileen Morrison. In 1963 she married her high school sweetheart Wayne Thompson (Deceased) they remained married for 55 years.
Linda was a wonderful mother to – Mark Wray Thompson (Debbie), Tammy Ilene Lutz (Brent) and Paul Wayne Thompson (Lisa). She was also an amazing and engaged grandmother to her grandchildren whom loved her dearly Anna Wehner, Chad Wehner, Seth Thompson, Jason Thompson, Ben Thompson, Sarah Thompson, and Natalie Thompson.
Linda was incredibly close to her family including her 6 sisters, Barbara Thompson, Patricia Reeve, Donna Fleming (deceased), Cathy Harper, Sandra Morrison, Valerie Elder and 3 brothers, Barry Morrison (deceased), Richard Morrison (deceased) and Wray Morrison.
Wayne and Linda lived in Saskatoon for many years and raised their three children. She was closely involved with her Christian family and bible study group. She was a stay at home mom and being involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren was very important to her.
Linda was very dedicated to her faith in Jesus Christ and would spend a great deal of time reading the word of God and in prayer. Late in Linda’s life she was stricken with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and eventually was unfortunately put on 24/7 oxygen therapy. She lived her last days in Melfort, SK so she could be close to her husband Wayne who was placed in a care home just across the street from her home. Linda’s last few years were full of joy and family time with many family visits at her home in Melfort.
Linda provided a welcoming home to all, there was always a pot of tea on and she loved to sit and visit with her loved ones. Her faith was steady and she always kept watch over those she loved by praying for them. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew her.
We wish to thank Melfort Union Hospital Nurses and Doctors who took great care of her during her final few days with us.
