Linda Dianne Cole (nee Nuyens). 1953-2021
Linda passed away July 27, 2021 after a severe stroke. Linda is dearly remembered and survived by her Dad, Bob Nuyens (June), her Mom, Ruth Nuyens, and four siblings; Mark (Sandy), Ken (Peggy), Lorri (Dave Lauer) and Greg; her son, Ian Sutherland (Keri), grandchildren Jordan and Avery, and numerous special cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also fondly remembered by her very special friends from Florida, Mexico and B.C. She will be also be missed dearly by her beloved cat, Misty.
The last four years have been very tumultuous ones with serious health issues for Linda and we know she is now at peace.
Linda spent many years in the cruise industry in Vancouver and Florida and was at her best when organizing and accompanying large groups on various cruises, including river cruises. Many local area residents used her professional services and joined Linda on these cruises.
Linda’s love of flowers culminated in her artful silk flower arrangements throughout her home, as well as her beautiful flower garden. She was an avid reader and her kindle was never far away. Bridge and Hearts were much loved pastimes beginning in her early twenties as was her favourite card game, Wizard. Her happiest times in the last few years were spent at her brother, Greg’s, cabin at Christina Lake which we called “her happy place”,spent with family, friends and neighbours. She was a wonderful breakfast line cook, treating us all to her famous berry pancakes at the lake.
Linda will be forever missed by her family and dear friends. She has left us far too soon. There will be no funeral service. The family plans to privately gather at Christina Lake later this summer. The family would like to thank all the nurses on the Third Floor who took such good care of Linda this past week.
