Lillian (Wasylyna) Tomcheski (nee Stadnyk)
January 14th, 1920 – February 12th, 2021
Lillian died peacefully at her home for the past 7 years, in Port Perry, Ontario, with her family at her side and surrounded by the love and prayers of family near and far.
An inimitable woman of strength, character, and humor with a strong drive for survival and a powerful love and dedication to her family: Lillian was born on a farm in Sarto, Manitoba, taught herself to read and write English, and as a single mother, supported her young sons Dennis and Kenneth working as a waitress in Richmond Hill until she retired. She remained connected to her community in Richmond Hill, living independently there until her 90s. In addition to Richmond Hill, part of her heart has always remained in Manitoba – she looked forward to her annual summer visits spent with family and friends: making pickles and cabbage rolls, fishing, picking berries, zooming around on four wheelers, sharing stories, laughter and a bottle (or two) of Molson Canadian.
As someone who was dedicated to looking after others, in the last years of her life Lillian gave us the gift of being able to offer care to her. Her family would like to express their profound gratitude for the support and connections provided to Lillian and her family by an amazing group of PSWs (personal support workers).
Lillian is predeceased by her mother Dora Stadnyk (nee Boyechko) and father Onufry Stadnyk, as well as her six siblings: Steve, Mary (Mildred), Sophie, Walter, Jamie, and Anne.
Lillian will be deeply missed by her sons Dennis and Kenneth Tomcheski, her grandchildren: Kristine, Jeffery, Allyson, Philip and Laura, and her great grandchildren: Baker, Myah, Caleb, Paige, and Austin, as well as her dear family in Manitoba and British Columbia.
