LEVEILLE, Jean Guy
1941 – 2021
It is with deep sadness that we announce Jean Guy’s passing at Temiskaming Hospital on Monday, April 19, 2021. Jean Guy was born in Earlton on April 5th, 1941 to the late Thérèse (née Loranger) and Adhémar Léveillé. As a young man, he worked as a miner at the Kerr Addison Mine in Viriginatown, a farmer, a road superintendent for the town of Earlton and later acquired Swany’s Variety Store in Elk Lake. Jean Guy was a northerner at heart and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping at Gillies Lake. He kept himself occupied as a town councillor in Earlton and Elk Lake, councillor on the board of Caisse Populaire D’Earlton and co-founder of Club Echo snowmobile club in Earlton. He was a great fan of the Montreal Canadians and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus in Earlton.
He was a great family man, a loving husband to mom for 57 years and proud grandfather and great grandfather. Family was most important to Dad and was deeply involved in organizing the Léveillé Family Rٞeunion in 1992, 2005 and 2011. He was most happy surrounded by his family and friends. He loved socializing at the coffee shop and riding his side by side in the country roads to check out the farmer’s fields.
Jean Guy will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Irene (née Lavictoire), his children Renée (Serge Julien), Marc (Nicole Laurin), Doris (Jed Smith), Simon (Nicole Digout); his grandchildren Alain (Pam), Joël (Brooke), Isabelle (Jocelyn), Pascal (Nicole), Keith, Maxim (Airianna), Jessie (Courtney), Darren, Trevor, Braeden, Calvin and his precious great-grandchildren Gabrielle and Kiana. Jean Guy will also be missed by his brothers Jules (Jacqueline), Richard (Lise), his sisters Madeleine (Marcel), Rose (Yves), Sue, his in-laws Denise and Ottorino Lello, Françoise Lavictoire, Denise Lavictoire, Georges and Yvette Lavictoire, Guy and Charlotte Lavictoire, Gerald and Rita Perron as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean Guy was predeceased by his parents, his sister Alice, his angels Doris, Joseph, Marie, his grandson Caleb Léveillé, his niece Joanne Léveillé, his nephew Martin Lavictoire, his in-laws Thérèse and Bruce Reinhart, Rémi and Beatrice Lavictoire, Réal Lavictoire, Raymond Lavictoire, Laurette Perron and Laurette Lavictoire.
We would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful nursing staff at the Temiskaming Hospital and the amazing care from Dr. Lacasse who cared for our dad while he was hospitalized for two months. Your attention, care and professionalism will never be forgotten.
Due to our current restrictions, a private family service will be held at St-Jean Baptiste Church in Earlton.
