Leon (Lee) Mitton
1941-2021
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Leon (Lee) Mitton,
better known as The Gentle Giant, announce his passing at the Dr.
Georges L. Dumont Hospital, on February 3, 2021, at the age of 79.
Leon, of Riverview, was born in Moncton to the late Frank and Helen
(Rice) Mitton. He worked as a regional sales representative for
Pro-Medix for 10 years prior to his retirement. Lee had a 40-year
career in the pharmaceutical and medical field and was a proud UCT
Member. He was loved and respected by clients and colleagues
alike.
Lee will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 58 years,
Simone Mitton (Cormier), by his daughters; Kelly (Dave) MacDonald of
Riverview and Kim (Greg) Theriault of Rexton; his son Chris (Karen) of
Riverview and his niece who was more like a daughter to him, Kathy
(Gerard) McCarthy of Oakville, Ontario. He also leaves behind his
sister, Brenda (Don) Steeves of Shediac Cape and his grandchildren,
Tyler, Justin, Catherine, Bailey, Brodie, Madison, Cameron, and a
great-grandson, August Francis. He will also be remembered by his two
nieces Marney and Amy, as well as by his many family and
friends.
Lee and Simone loved to travel, and were fortunate to have
travelled frequently, with Hawaii being a favorite destination. Lee
loved being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, making
many memories at his special place, his cottage in Parkindale, N.B.
Hunting and fishing in the backwoods of Albert county with
his buddies was another one of his favorite
pass-times.
Lee will be fondly remembered for his storytelling and sense
of humor. He was a kind and gentle soul, who rarely got angry or
raised his voice (but watch out if he did). Lee was the type of person
who would always ask how you were doing, or how your loved ones
were.
Nothing made Papa prouder than watching his 7 grandchildren
playing their various sports and participating in different
activities. He took the time to get to know his grandchildren and
their interests, taking pride in watching them grow over the
years.
Simone and family would like to thank Dr. Dan Landry and the
staff at the dialysis unit at the George Dumont Hospital for the
exceptional care given to him over the years. Also, a special thank
you is to be extended to all the staff at Wheels on Wheels Inc. for
the safe travels provided to and from the hospital.
The family invites friends and relatives to Cobb’s Funeral
Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on
Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 3:00 – 6:00 Pm for a time to share and
celebrate Leon’s Life.
In memory of Leon, donations to the Children’s Wish
Foundation or to the Dialysis unit of the Dr. Georges L. Dumont
Hospital would be greatly appreciated by the family.
