Rosemond Lamoureux June 20, 1939 – July 22, 2021
It is on June 3, 1664, that a young Louis Lamoureux of 23 years officially appears in the registers of Nouvelle-France. Shortly thereafter, he married a young Fille du Roy, Françoise Boivin. Rosemond is a direct descendant of their union.
Many days ago, on the 22nd of July, at the Teresa Dellar palliative care residence, he left us peacefully, with Barbara at his side.
Born in Chartierville, Québec, son of Philémon Lamoureux and Rose-Aimée Lacroix. He grew up proud of his language and culture and its founding history on this Continent. He had the joy of seeing the brilliant creativity and will of survival unfold within this grand French Nation, of which he was a son.
Dearly loved by his siblings: sisters Monette (Mario Poulin and André Daigneault) and Gaétane (Gilles Raymond), and brothers Yvès (Louise Simard) Ghislain (Anne Dumouchel) Gilles-Frédérick deceased 2014, and their children. Adored by his wife Barbara Touchie (Bobbie), together for nearly a half century.
He possessed a grand intelligence and an open mind. Forever curious, he loved to discuss a myriad of subjects with everyone he met. A gentle, witty and generous man, he loved people, travel, books, technology (especially cars and aircraft) history, archeology, genealogy, and all things intellectual attracted his curious mind.
Dreamed from childhood of flying, and was able to make so many of his dreams reality. Lived and shaped a fascinating career as an aviator, from teaching, to air survey, to bush pilot, to flying the distant early warning (DEW) line from Alaska to Greenland during the ‘cold war ‘, and on to Airline commercial and passenger flying, including medical evacuations. Calm, patience, courage, and a deep authentic spirit helped him through life’s difficult moments.
To fill the void of his absence, Rosemond has left us with the indefectible love he had for his wife, his family, and his friendships. Bon voyage Rosemond, we shall never forget you. You have made such an impression on us, as like a lovely dream. And you are engraved in our memories forever.
A memorial to his life will be held at Voluntas Commemoration, 4695 boulevard St-Jean, Dollard-des-Ormeaux on Thursday August 19. Visitation at 1:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 p.m., in presence of the urn.
Donations, if desired, may be made to the Teresa Dellar palliative care residence, 265 André-Brunet, Kirkland, Québec.
Present public health directives in force for covid will be followed by Salon Voluntas.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Voluntas (514-695-7979, voluntas.ca).
