It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Oma, Sister, Friend, Betty Haagen (nee Super). Betty went to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 15 2021 at the age of 86. She joins her husband of 59 years Peter Haagen who passed away in 2019. Betty will be dearly missed by her loving family Rhonda Haagen, Gwen (Rob) Beukens, Cheryl (Arnie) Molag, Curtis Haagen, Mark (Tamara) Haagen, Grandchildren: Cole (Misty), Rachel (Brett), Sam (Alysia), Nathan, Aaron, Zackary, and Isaiah, and great grandchildren Hendrik, Hans, Thijs and Giulia.
Betty was born in Nieuw-Buinen, Drenthe, The Netherlands and immigrated with her family to Lacombe, Alberta in 1949. She worked in the Red Deer Hospital as a nurse’s aid for many of her teen years. She moved to Vancouver for a year with some friends. She loved the year spent in Vancouver and often spoke of the fond memories she had there. She worked at Vancouver General Hospital. She moved back to Lacombe where she met and married Peter Haagen. Eventually Peter and Betty moved to Terrace BC where they raised their 5 children. Peter and Betty owned Mountainview Bakery where they worked hard running a successful business. In 1987 they moved to Abbotsford to be closer to family. Betty had an opportunity to work and share her talents of helping residents at the Bethesda Christian Association.
Betty loved life and people. She loved to talk to everyone and find out about their life. Her greatest passions were her faith, family, fashion and flowers. Betty lived her life for the Lord and for the love of her family, each of whom were all very special to her. She will be dearly and lovingly missed.
