Kulchyski, Lena ‘Lee’

Lena ‘Lee’ Kulchyski has passed to join her parents, siblings and other family and friends, on Monday, December 6, 2021. After a lengthy battle with cancer, she passed peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit – Parkwood Hospital, London, Ontario.
Born November 26, 1929 in Rama, Saskatchewan to Carl and Katherine Kulchyski, (née Novakowski) she resided in London, Ontario for most of her adult life.
A graduate of Western University, Lee dedicated her life to teaching primary school children.
Lee was active in the Western Alumni Association and enjoyed participating in lectures offered through the University Graduate Program. An avid reader, a great conversationalist, and a person who enjoyed discussing a wide variety of issues and topics, she also took pride in her knowledge of homeopathic medicine.
Her deepest interest was always her extended family and she enjoyed many Christmases and special occasions with them, especially birthdays, though she did not hesitate to remind us that the celebration was early on occasion and that she had not yet reached another milestone. A gracious and hospitable person, she loved to entertain in her home and happily shared her pierogi making secrets.
Lee is predeceased by her father, Carl; her beloved mama, Katherine; her elder sister, Elizabeth McDonnell; and her younger sisters, Adele Shocrylas and Trudy McDonnell.
Lee will be fondly remembered by her younger brothers, Lawrence and Ron; their wives, Deborah and Christine; her brother-in-law, Barry; and numerous cousins across Canada. Lovingly referred to as Auntie Lee, she will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.
Lena’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and PSWs who gave her care, support and compassion along her journey. Also, a very special Thank You to her wonderful friends, Bonnie and Bill.
A private funeral celebration of her life will be held at St. George’s Parish.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Lee are asked to mail donations to the Reconstruction Fund for St. Anthony’s Church, Box 1 Rama, Saskatchewan, S0A 3H0.
