Kitty Margaret Gafney, 100, passed away peacefully at Leaside Retirement Residence, East York on October 30, 2021. Born on August 18, 1921 in Enfield, England, she was the elder daughter of the late Alfred & Christina (Cooke) Gafney. During WWII she relocated with her parents and sister to Harrogate, England. The family first moved to Toronto in 1949. After a brief move to Coolangatta, Australia they returned to Toronto. Until recently Kitty lived on Four Oaks Gate in East York. Kitty enjoyed travel and made frequent trips to England and Europe, often with her sister. She spent many summers by the ocean in Rockport, Mass. Kitty was an accomplished artist and had a fine eye for detail. She worked in oils and water colours and her delicate miniature pictures of animals and flowers are much admired. In 1966 she won first prize for water colours in the Group of 100 Artists at the Canadian National Exhibition. For several years she exhibited her work at art fairs including the Toronto Outdoor Art Show at Nathan Phillips Square. She is survived by her sister, Mollie.
