Kenneth John « Ken »
Minty – 91, Parkland Estates, Truro, formerly of
North River, Colchester County, passed away peacefully on Tuesday,
March 16, 2021, at home. Born in Toronto, he was a son of the late
George Leslie and Edith Victoria (McMurray) Minty.
Trucks were always a part of Ken’s life. He
delivered ice as a teenager, was an owner-operator, fleet safety
insurance supervisor, truck salesman and on-call driver in his
retirement years. Ken was well-known at Nova Scotia Provincial
Exhibition as both a committee member and prize-winning competitor in
model trucks and wood-working. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed the
community dances and travelled widely.
Ken was the father of Linda Minty, Belleville, Ontario, and
Richard Minty, Barrie, Ontario, and Grampy to Cole and Jessi. Along
with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor (Crawford);
brother, Ross; sister, Eileen; granddaughter, Shannon Rose. He will be
missed by his friends, Maude, Janet and Challon.
Special thanks are extended to nurse, Marie Lewis (VON),
neighbour, Jamie Marshall for mowing Ken’s lawn and looking
out to him and his property and to Kim Fowler and Glen McNutt for
visiting with Ken and being there for him when we couldn’t
be.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life reception
will be held at a later date. Ken will be interred at a later date
with his wife, Eleanor, in Beechwood Cemetery, Vaughan, Ontario. If so
desired, donations in Ken’s memory to a charity of
one’s choice are welcomed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
