Kenneth Donald Young – Feb. 26, 1957 – Oct. 14, 2021
Sadly, Ken Young of New Westminster passed away Oct. 14 2021. He was predeceased by his father Jack Young of Summerland and his mother and stepfather Yvonne and Lorne Gingell of New Westminster. He leaves to mourn his two daughters Nicole and Lisa Young both of New Westminster; his half-sister Lori Wertz, his stepmother Doreen Young, his Aunt Nancy Johnston, his nephews Darren Wertz (Kyli Haugland) and Colin Wertz (Kierstin DeRosier) and their son Brayden Wertz all of Summerland; and his cousin Jennifer Johnston (Tim Reinert) of Vancouver. Ken was born in New Westminster and lived there all his life. He worked for the City of New Westminster for about 35 yrs. From the time he was nine until he was seventeen, he spent every summer holiday, Christmas and Easter in Summerland with his Dad, Doreen and Lori learning to ride a horse, snowmobile and ride a motorcycle with his Dad and shooting his first (and only) deer. His Summerland family would like to thank his many friends in New Westminster for all their kindness over the last few years, who helped him out and visited him in the hospital: particularly Gord, Greg, Lou, Dave, Cliff, Brian, Jamie, Bob, Joe, Dave, Paul, Bev and Murray, and Al and Jean. There will be no funeral at Ken’s request.
